Penn State To Host In-Person Summer Commencement August 14

Penn State’s summer commencement ceremonies will take place in person next week, the university confirmed Thursday.

On Saturday, August 14, Penn State will recognize summer graduates at the Bryce Jordan Center. There, the university will hand out approximately 3,217 diplomas to a mix of students completing bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.

The ceremony for undergraduate and associate degree candidates will kick off at 10:30 a.m. Graduate degree candidates will get started with their ceremony at 2:30 p.m.

Both ceremonies will feature remarks from President Eric Barron and an official welcome to the Penn State Alumni Association.

Those who can’t attend in person are welcome to stream the ceremony online. A recording will be available through an archive once the ceremonies conclude.

Following recently updated policies, Penn State will require indoor mask-wearing at the ceremony for all individuals, regardless of their vaccination status. The updated guidelines reflect raised COVID-19 transmission levels across Pennsylvania.

More commencement information is available online. The university’s most up-to-date COVID-19-related guidelines are available on Penn State’s dedicated website.
