Penn State Adds 42 Cases To COVID-19 Dashboard

Penn State reported 42 new COVID-19 cases among University Park students and employees this week, according to the university’s COVID-19 Dashboard.

Since its dashboard update on Thursday, August 19, the university administered 5,328 tests to students and employees.

Penn State’s total positivity rate since December 19, 2020, sits at 2.8%. About 0.8% of tests administered this week returned positive results.

Ten students are currently isolating at Penn State’s Eastview Terrace complex, while zero are quarantined there. The university is using about 4% of its 200-room capacity. Last week, 2% of rooms were in use.

Penn State has administered 107,814 COVID-19 tests to University Park students and employees since December 2020, resulting in 2,829 positives.

Penn State plans on updating the dashboard twice a week this fall on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The university said testing data is added to the dashboard once results are received.

This fall, all unvaccinated students and employees, including those who haven’t shared proof of vaccination with Penn State, will undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.

Walk-up COVID-19 testing is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday through Friday, at Pegula Ice Arena. It’s also accessible from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday through Friday, at the White Building.

Students experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should avoid walk-up testing and instead schedule an appointment with University Health Services.
