Report: Penn State Hoops To Host Wagner As Part Of 2021-22 Schedule
Penn State men’s basketball has reportedly added another opponent to its non-conference schedule.
According to CBS insider Jon Rothstein, the Nittany Lions will host the Wagner Seahawks at the Bryce Jordan Center this season.
The game would be the first time Penn State has played Wagner since November 2019, where the Nittany Lions won 91-64. The Seahawks finished last season 13-7 overall, and 13-5 within the NEC.
So far, the Nittany Lions’ non-conference schedule includes St. Francis (New York), LSU, and Oregon State or Wake Forest as part of the Emerald Coast Classic. Micah Shrewsberry’s squad will also play Miami in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
Penn State finished last season 11-14 with interim head coach Jim Ferry at the helm. The Nittany Lions grabbed a win over Nebraska to open the Big Ten Tournament, but a heartbreaking loss to Wisconsin in the next round ended their season. Shortly after the campaign wrapped up in March, Penn State hired Micah Shrewsberry as its head coach.
