Transfer Portal Roundup: Week One

With a huge road win already under their belt, it’s hard to imagine a better start to the season for the Nittany Lions. Unlike last season, things are looking bright for Penn State.

A few former Nittany Lions had good weekend debuts, too. Check out this week’s roundup to see how some of Penn State’s most notable transfers fared with their new teams.

Will Levis, Kentucky

Wildcats quarterback and former Penn State backup Will Levis impressed in his debut with Kentucky. Completing 69.2% of his passes, Levis threw for 367 yards with four touchdowns, one interception, and had a QB rating of 82.9 as Kentucky beat UL-Monroe 45-10.

Levis’s next test, and perhaps a truer one, comes when Kentucky hosts Missouri at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 11.

Zack Kuntz, Old Dominion

Kuntz had a rather quiet debut as Wake Forest dominated the Monarchs 42-10. The former Penn State tight end had three receptions for 19 yards.

Lance Dixon, West Virginia

Linebacker Lance Dixon recorded only one tackle during the Mountaineers’ 30-24 defeat at Maryland.

Judge Culpepper, Toledo

Former Penn State defensive lineman Judge Culpepper put up four tackles in Toledo’s win over Norfolk State Saturday.

Joseph Bruno, Delaware

Former Penn State running back Joseph Bruno didn’t get much work in the Blue Hens’ win over Maine this weekend. Bruno, who left Penn State after just one season, managed eight rushing yards on one carry Saturday.
