Following Penn State football’s season-opening win over Wisconsin, Champs Downtown emerged victorious in a “Bar Tab Battle” against the Badgers’ own Kollege Klub bar.

The rules were quite simple, folks. The losing school would owe the opposing bar a $1,000 stipend for the following Friday, providing drinks for fans of the winning school. As we all know, the Nittany Lions came out on top, meaning The Kollege Klub is sending over $1,000 to cover Friday’s bar tab…or at least part of it.

As our scrappy crew of football writers and photographers learned, The Kollege Klub gets ridiculously crowded, which is why they weren’t even able to get in. The same can be said about Champs, of course. It’s safe to say the stakes here were pretty high. Luckily, Penn State made sure Champs took home the money.

If your Friday plans include a trip to South Allen Street ahead of Penn State football’s home opener, there certainly might be a larger crowd than usual.
