Penn State’s PJ Mustipher To Miss Rest Of 2021 Season
Penn State football defensive tackle PJ Mustipher will miss the rest of the 2021 season after sustaining an injury against Iowa, head coach James Franklin confirmed Wednesday night.
Mustipher went down on the fifth play of the game against the Hawkeyes Saturday afternoon. His undisclosed injury sidelined him for the rest of the game.
Franklin noted that Mustipher’s in-game replacements, mainly Dvon Ellies and Coziah Izzard, “did some good things” against Iowa.
“Obviously, we think PJ is an elite-level player, so [Ellies and Izzard] still have work to do,” Franklin said. “I thought, overall, those guys did some pretty good things.”
Mustipher’s season ends with 21 total tackles, three tackles for loss, and a sack under his belt.
Penn State obviously loses a critical member of its defense and team following Mustipher’s season-ending injury. He was one of the Nittany Lions’ six captains appointed before the season.
