The 16th Assembly of the University Park Undergraduate Association met Wednesday night.

The night began with a special presentation from its own Judicial Board. Members of the Judicial Board described introduced the board’s role within UPUA, how it functions, as well as its goals. The Judicial Board hosts town halls, monitors and deals with election code violations, and helps to run elections smoothly.

President Erin Boas and Vice President Najee Rodriguez spoke to the assembly about their responsibilities and platforms before diving into new business for the night.

New Business

To get started, Latino Caucus Representative Evelyn Juanacio was sworn into the UPUA.

The first piece of legislation on the agenda was Bill #10-16: Funding for Fall and Winter Break Lyft Subsidies. The bill proposed funding the use of Lyft promo codes to and from the University Park Airport and campus for students to use at the beginning and end of fall and winter break.

UPUA will fund 125 $15 Lyft ride coupons for each of the following travel-time windows: November 18 to 21, November 27 to 29, December 10 to 18, and January 7 to 9. Subsidy codes will be UPUAFALL2021 for fall break and UPUAWINTER2022 for winter break.

Bill #10-16 passed unanimously with a vote of 34-0-0.

Resolution #11-16: Establishment of What To Fix Day 2021 was the only other piece of legislation discussed. Years ago, the Penn State What To Fix (PSU WTF) Campaign was started to hear students’ opinions on what can improve student and campus life via social media surveys.

The resolution proposes to continue the campaign and hold a “What to Fix Day” (WTF Day) on October 27 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the HUB, so students can fill out a survey to tell the Facilities Committee what needs to be changed around campus.

Resolution #11-16 passed unanimously, too.
