Police Searching For Armed Robbery Suspect In State College

State College police are searching for a suspect after an armed robbery on Sunday afternoon at the Fullington bus depot, 152 N. Atherton St.

At about 2:50 p.m., a man entered the office area of the bus station and struck the clerk with a pistol, knocking him to the floor, according to an update from police at 5:10 p.m. The suspect then stole cash from a register and fled through the bus station, exiting through the south side door.

The suspect was described as a 6-foot to 6-foot-1 Black male in his 30s or 40s weighing approximately 240 pounds. He had a salt-and-pepper beard that was mostly covered with a black disposable mask and the whites of his eyes were “jaundiced,” according to police.

He was last seen wearing a black hoodie with white lettering with the hood up and zipped to his chin.

The clerk was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

“The surrounding area was thoroughly searched and there is no evidence to believe the suspect is still in the area,” a police statement said.

Officers and a detective are on scene continuing to investigate.

Anyone with information is asked to to contact the State College Police Department at (814) 234-7150, by email or by submitting an anonymous tip online.

Trick-or-treating, which is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. on Sunday in the Centre Region, is still on, police said.

Because of the bus terminal’s proximity to campus, Penn State issued emergency alerts shortly after the incident as required by the federal Clery Act for warning about certain crimes that occur on or adjacent to campus.

The first, sent at 3:08 p.m., advised residents to “Seek shelter. Secure doors. Be silent. Be still.”

The second alert was issued at 3:41 p.m. and stated “Armed Robbery suspect still at large, remain vigilant and avoid the area of 152 North Atherton Street.
