Report: Pat Chambers Joining La Salle’s Staff As Volunteer Coach
Former Penn State men’s basketball coach Pat Chambers is reportedly returning to coaching, according to CBS Sports insider Jon Rothstein.
Chambers is expected to head to Philly and join La Salle’s staff as the team’s special assistant to the head coach. He notably grew up in Philadelphia and even played college hoops for Thomas Jefferson University, which was known back then as Philadelphia University.
Chambers stepped down as Penn State’s head coach last year after allegations of misconduct prompted an internal investigation. The accusations surfaced after former Penn State guard Rasir Bolton alleged this past June that Chambers made comments involving a “noose around [his] neck,” causing him to his transfer.
Chambers left Penn State with a 148-150 regular-season record over his nine-year head coaching gig. He led the Nittany Lions to a 2018 NIT Championship and was poised to bring a 21-10 Penn State team to the NCAA Tournament before the COVID-19 pandemic cut that dream short.
