Transfer Portal Roundup: Week 10
After three straight losses, the Nittany Lions are back in the win column after a 31-14 win over Maryland. However, some former Penn Staters are coming off of victories with their new squads.
Here’s a look at how recent Penn State football transfers performed across college football this week:
Will Levis, QB Kentucky
Although he suffered a disappointing loss to unranked Tennessee, former Nittany Lion quarterback Will Levis had a decent game. He threw for 372 yards, his most in a game so far this season, in No. 18 Kentucky’s 45-42 loss.
Levis also threw for three touchdowns, putting up a 63.3% completion rate for the game. He did, however, throw one interception, which was returned for a touchdown in the second quarter.
John Petrishen, LB Pittsburgh
Petrishen had a season-best stat line this weekend for Pitt in the Panthers’ 54-29 win at Duke. He had seven solo tackles, his best so far this season, plus six assisted tackles. Petrishen also had an interception and a sack.
Zack Kuntz, TE Old Dominion
Tight end Zach Kuntz put up a good performance for the second game in a row. He had nine receptions for a total of 102 yards, including the first touchdown of the game.
Kuntz’s score helped start Old Dominion’s 47-24 win over Florida International.
Mac Hippenhammer, WR Miami Ohio
This former Penn State wide receiver had a season-best game this week. Despite the 35-33 loss to Ohio University, Hippenhammer had two touchdowns, bringing his season total up to three. He also had 72 total yards.
Justin Shorter, WR Florida
The Florida wide receiver did not make much of an impact in the Gators’ loss to South Carolina, making it the team’s third defeat in a row. Shorter had five catches for a total of 92 yards but was unable to find the end zone in Florida’s rough 40-17 loss.
Judge Culpepper, DT Toldeo
Culpepper recorded six tackles in Toledo’s 52-49 loss to Eastern Michigan.
Antonio Valentino, DL Florida
The former Penn Stater recorded four tackles, three of which were solo tackles, in Flordia’s 40-17 to South Carolina.
