Penn State Acting Champions Female Resiliency In ‘Dry Land’
Penn State’s acting program is holding performances of “Dry Land” from November 14 to 17 following a preview Saturday night.
“Dry Land” follows two high school swimmers, Catherine Bennis and Riley Conrad, as one struggles to find access to abortion services in the wake of an unexpected pregnancy. While the pair’s relationship already undergoes typical adolescent growth and struggle, the two are forced to find ways to rise above the external pressures assigned to them.
Directed by Jeanmarie Higgins and Erik Raymond Johnson, “Dry Land” discusses abortion but also forays into conversations about eating disorders, feminism, and suicide. As a result, the School of Theatre has restricted entry for anyone under the age of 16.
The show will be performed in Theatre Building 119. Admission is free but requires a reservation. Tickets can be reserved by filling out Penn State Acting’s reservation form.
