Penn State Extends Library Hours For Finals Week, Fall & Winter Break

Penn State’s Pattee and Paterno libraries are adjusting their hours over the next few weeks as students head to break and get ready for final exams.

From Sunday, December 5 to Friday, December 17, Pattee and Paterno will open at 7:45 a.m. on weekdays and noon on weekends. They’ll close at 2 a.m. on weeknights and 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The libraries will close from December 18 through January 2 due to the expansion of winter break for full-time employees.

Operating hours are modified for fall break, too. The libraries will close at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 19, remain closed over the weekend, and reopen Monday, November 22 to Wednesday, November 24 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The libraries will close again from Thursday, November 25, to Saturday, November 27, and resume normal opening hours on Sunday, November 28, from noon to midnight.

“Penn State University Libraries is excited to offer extended hours to students as they prepare for finals and the end of the semester. We encourage our students and community members to support the health and well-being of themselves and others, including complying with University eating and masking guidelines while in Libraries spaces,” said Rebecca Miller Waltz, interim associate dean for Learning and Undergraduate Services.

All library resources must be checked out by Friday, December 17, for reading over winter break. Students who are requesting library materials from another Penn State campus library should submit a request before December 17.

Before venturing over, be sure to double-check library hours online.
