Penn State Updates Break COVID-19 Testing Schedule & Hours

With Thanksgiving and winter break right around the corner, Penn State will update COVID-19 testing schedules and operating hours for the next few weeks.

If you plan on getting tested soon, here’s everything you’ll need to know:

Asymptomatic Required Testing & Compliance Schedule

Students and faculty required to test once a week will have defined dates to complete their COVID-19 test before both fall and winter break. They will receive a notification through their Penn State email for their defined timeframes.

For students at University Park, the testing windows are:

  • Monday, November 15 – Friday, November 19
  • Monday, November 29 – Sunday, December 5
  • Monday, December 6 – Sunday, December 12

For employees at any location, the testing windows are:

  • Wednesday, November 17 – Tuesday, November 30
  • Wednesday, December 1 – Tuesday, December 7
  • Wednesday, December 8 – Tuesday, December 14

Testing for employees won’t be required from Wednesday, December 15, through Sunday, January 2, due to winter break.

Drop-In Testing

Drop-in testing at the White Building will remain available during fall and winter break. There will be modified hours some days, while the site will be closed entirely on others.

From November 29 through December 12, the White Building testing site will operate under its normal hours. The White Building testing site will run on the following schedule during and around fall break:

  • Monday, November 22: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 23: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, November 24: 9 to 11 a.m.
  • Thursday, November 25: Closed
  • Friday, November 26: 9 to 11 a.m.
  • Saturday, November 27: Closed
  • Sunday, November 28: 3 to 5 p.m.

The White Building testing site will operate on the following schedule during and around winter break:

  • Monday, December 13, through Friday, December 17: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 18: Closed
  • Sunday, December 19: Closed
  • Monday, December 20: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Tuesday, December 21: Closed
  • Wednesday, December 22: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Thursday, December 23: Closed
  • Friday, December 24: Closed
  • Saturday, December 25: Closed
  • Sunday, December 26: Closed
  • Monday, December 27: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Tuesday, December 28: Closed
  • Wednesday, December 29: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Thursday, December 30: Closed
  • Friday, December 31: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Saturday, January 1: Closed
  • Sunday, January 2: Closed

For the spring semester, the White Building will open on January 3 for testing. Penn State said information on spring testing hours will be available soon.

Contact Tracing & Quarantine And Isolation

These services will still be available as needed over fall and winter break for those who need it.

COVID-19 Call Center

The call center that is available for all faculty, staff, students, and their families will be closed on November 25 and 26 during fall break. It will also be closed from December 20 through 31 for winter break.

University Health Services

UHS will be closed for a number of days during fall break. The following days are:

  • Saturday, November 20
  • Thursday, November 25
  • Friday, November 26
  • Saturday, November 27

During winter break, UHS will be closed from Saturday, December 18 through Sunday, January 2.
