Penn State baseball will return to the Pittsburgh Pirates’ PNC Park for a rivalry matchup against Pitt on Tuesday, May 17, the team announced Wednesday morning.

This is the first time the Nittany Lions will play at PNC Park since 2019, when they faced the West Virginia Mountaineers. Penn State first played there in 2017.

“We are very excited to once again play at PNC Park,” head coach Rob Cooper said in a release. “It is one of the best stadiums in all of Major League Baseball and it will create a lifetime memory for all our players. I look forward to seeing Nittany Nation show up and support our student-athletes.”

Penn State and Pitt have played one another 135 times, with an all-time series record of 88-46-1 in the Nittany Lions’ favor. However, in their two games since 2019, each team has one win.

Tickets will be on sale for $10 through the Pittsburgh Pirates’ website, with a discounted ticket rate for students and alumni. Codes for each group are “PSUSTUDENT” and “Nittanylion”, respectively.

Penn State baseball hasn’t yet announced its full 2022 schedule, but more details should come out soon as spring nears.
