Penn State wide receiver Winston Eubanks was forced to retire from football due to medical reasons, per an announcement posted on his social media accounts Monday evening.

Eubanks missed the latter half of the 2021 season after suffering a concussion, a medical issue that the wide receiver reported has plagued his career. During this season, Eubanks was able to record a two-yard reception in the Villanova game.

A graduate transfer from Shippensburg University, Eubanks would have had the option of flexing another year of playing eligibility next season. He finishes his collegiate career having amassed 2,855 receiving yards and 28 receiving touchdowns.

Following his Nittany Lion debut against Wisconsin in week one, Eubanks earned the praise of his peers and coaches for his versatility and work ethic.

The premature conclusion to Eubanks’ career is not a first of its kind in Penn State’s recent history, as star running back Journey Brown was forced to medically retire prior to the 2020 season due to a previously undetected heart condition.
