Gameday Coverage: Penn State vs. No. 21 Arkansas In Outback Bowl

Welcome to Tampa.

Penn State football (7-5, 4-5 Big Ten) is set to take on SEC foe Arkansas (8-4, 4-4 SEC) in the 2022 Outback Bowl. Despite a disappointing fall from an impressive 5-0 start, the Nittany Lions could still end the season on a high note by dispatching their second SEC opponent of the season.

Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the New Year’s Day matchup.

Television

Saturday’s showdown will kick off at noon and be broadcast on ESPN 2. Dave Flemming and Rod Gilmore will be on the play-by-play call while Stormy Buonantony will assist with sideline reporting.

Radio

Penn State Sports Network — Steve Jones, Jack Ham, and Brian Tripp
Local: 99.5 & 103.7 FM/1450 AM, Sirius/XM/Internet: 83/372/962

Weather

Sorry to those still in Pennsylvania, but it’ll be just about perfect at Raymond James Stadium. Temperatures will be in the high 70s and low 80s throughout the game, but wind gusts will hit as high as 22 mph near kickoff, according to Accuweather. Expect 67% humidity.

Last Meeting

Hey, this is the first meeting between these two programs! Both teams have a chance to take a 1-0 series lead.

Injuries/Suspensions

Since Penn State typically only reports season-ending injuries, we only know that defensive linemen Adisa Isaac, Hakeem Beamon, and PJ Mustipher will miss Saturday’s matchup. It appears offensive lineman Rasheed Walker will miss the game as well and be replaced by Olu Fashanu.

Opt-outs will play a huge role in this game as well. Both teams will be without their best wide receiver and Penn State is missing five of its defensive starters.

Betting Lines

Arkansas is a 2.5-point favorite over Penn State, according to Oddsshark. The over/under is set at 48.5 points and the Nittany Lions are 7-5 against the spread this season.
