Once Again, State College Is The ‘City Of THON’
Newly minted State College Mayor Ezra Nanes announced Tuesday that State College will once again be known as the “City of THON” across the 46 hours that dancers stand from February 18 to 20.
This is now the eighth time the borough will symbolically change its name in honor of Penn State’s annual no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon. Former State College Mayor Elizabeth Goreham started the tradition back in 2015.
Nanes introduced the temporary name change through a symbolic proclamation.
“‘For The Kids’ are three words that motivate and inspire more than 16,500 students across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to give of their time and selfless dedication in the pursuit of finding a cure for childhood cancer,” the borough’s official proclamation reads.
THON 2022 is slated to return to the Bryce Jordan Center from Friday, February 18 to Sunday, February 20. We dance in just 17 days!
