An Open Letter To The Jonas Brothers: ‘What A Man Gotta Do’ For You To ‘Comeback’?

If there’s one thing all current seniors want more than anything else, it’s for the Jonas Brothers to come back and visit State College one more time before we graduate. Well, maybe I’m speaking for a small majority here, but I’d put my money on the fact that at least a few folks agree with me.

Let’s state the obvious: The Jonas Brothers know how to infiltrate and shut down this town like none other. They have a longstanding history in State College, but unfortunately, if you’re a current senior, you probably missed out when the Jonas Brothers performed a surprise concert at Champs about two years ago.

I remember standing outside Champs that night just trying to get a glimpse inside but wound up stuck outside like the sad, pathetic, underaged soul that I was. Pictured below is a very accurate depiction of anyone who was left literally on the curb that night, yearning for Sophie Turner to pour a shot into their mouth.

Since then, the Jonas Brothers have returned in some capacity to State College twice. First, Joe Jonas showed up and watched the 2019 Penn State-Idaho game from the sidelines. A few days after that, the band of brothers brought their “Happiness Begins” tour to the BJC.

Still, nothing has sent such electrifying energy through State College as their surprise Champs performance. At this rate, it feels like it’ll be the ‘Year 3000’ before we ever see them in Happy Valley again. But seniors, let’s hold out hope.

My ‘S.O.S.’ for the Jonas Brothers to come back to campus before I graduate is selfish in the fact that I just want to experience the ‘Rollercoaster’ of emotions that comes when my all-time favorite band shows up in the place where ‘Happiness Begins’ — also known as Happy Valley. After all, the band would make ‘Happy When I’m Sad’ about graduating in three months.

Let’s ‘Keep It Real’, though. Logistically, a lot has changed in the past few years that may make an appearance unlikely. The chances of the band traveling for a surprise trip amid the COVID-19 pandemic are unlikely. Second, since the band was last in town, it added two new members to the family — Joe Jonas’ daughter with wife Sophie Turner and Nick Jonas’ new bundle of joy with wife Priyanka Chopra. Traveling during the pandemic with new babies at home makes our chances here seem slim.

Regardless, Jonas Brothers, ‘Hold On’ and hear me out just ‘A Little Bit Longer.’ We’re flexible. You don’t need to perform at a packed bar to fill in the void we all have from missing out on your performance three years ago. You could show up in my English 202 class, for crying out loud. The group could also make a surprise appearance at THON, the Blue-White Game, or even graduation. All options would ‘BB Good’ for us.

My point is, we seniors were denied such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and after navigating college through the hell that has been the last two years, we kinda deserve this. Just name a time and place, JoBros.
