Student Advisory Board On Student Poverty To Host Focus Group With Damon Sims

Penn State’s Student Advisory Board on Student Poverty will host a focus group with Damon Sims, vice president for Student Affairs, next week.

While the group meets from 4 to 5:15 p.m. on Monday, February 14, in Alumni Hall, it’ll seek feedback from students on services available that help address food, housing, and financial insecurity. The board plans to propose its recommendations to address these insecurities on campus and later host breakout meetings to gather additional thoughts from attendees.

As an additional incentive, the board will treat attendees to a boxed meal from Panera. To score your food, you’ll need to register using this link.

The Student Advisory Board launched in conjunction between Penn State’s Student Affairs and the University Park Undergraduate Association. The board aims to study solutions that would decrease student poverty at Penn State.

“We have a real opportunity to create a long-lasting solution that would alleviate the lives of thousands of students over the years, the lives of students who just want to focus on their education in efforts to pursue a better life,” said UPUA Vice President Najee Rodriguez. “This work is important, and it is happening now.”
