Former Penn State Men’s Soccer Captain Pierre Reedy Joins Real Monarchs

Former Penn State men’s soccer captain Pierre Reedy has signed with MLS NEXT Pro side Real Monarchs, the team announced on Friday.

Reedy’s signing comes after he spent time with Real Salt Lake as a trialist and played in three preseason matches. The Kutztown, Pa., native also earned playing time with USL League Two side Reading United in 2018, reaching the USL League Two championship match with the team.

“Pierre came into the preseason with Real Salt Lake and continually impressed our technical staff,” Assistant General Manager Tony Beltran said in a press release. “His approach to his craft, his character there within, and desire to succeed is a model for players of all ages within our organization.”

Reedy spent five years at Penn State, culminating in the team’s Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles in 2021. He spent two seasons as co-captain of the team as well.

Despite being hampered by injury for two seasons, Reedy played in 48 matches and started 44 of them. Over those appearances, he scored six goals and notched 10 assists for the Nittany Lions, including one goal in the Big Ten title match against Indiana.

Reedy will join the Monarchs during their inaugural season in the MLS Next PRO league. The new third-division league will begin playing at the end of March.
