A True Spring Break Is Here, So Use It Wisely

We’ve made it. Spring break is finally here.

This term “spring break” might be new to some of us. For the first time in three years, students are getting a glimpse of what a real break might look like. After a jam-packed eight weeks of classes, a pause is exactly what we need.

After last year’s experience with only wellness days and no proper time off, many of us were overworked and fighting major bouts of burnout. Spring 2021 was filled with consistent schoolwork and a lack of social interaction. Of course, we all know how spring break 2020 went…

As this year’s spring break officially kicks off, this is our time to rejuvenate and soak up every moment of relaxation. Whether you’re traveling near or far, or just taking time off at home, this is your chance to appreciate doing nothing. That’s right, take advantage of sitting around and recharging.

Even if you’re heading somewhere with some palm trees or a beach, take the time to look around and feel lucky you were able to go somewhere this year. Compared to where we were a short year ago, you are on top of the world.

Seniors were freshmen the last time a traditional spring break came around. Use this time to recreate your best memories. Before real-world worries start coming your way after graduation, pay homage to your very first spring break, or any memory that is a true staple to your college career. You deserve it.

Whether you are a current freshman or a soon-to-be graduate, do whatever makes you feel your best. Spring break is made for us to steal a moment and breathe.

A normal break in the semester is necessary for us students to give our best. Since 2020, we’ve been attached to our computers while trying to catch up and give our maximum effort with every class. We can function like this for only so long. Finally, we’ve made it to what we’ve all looked forward to.

Over this seven-day break, focus on your mental health, take care of yourself, and strive toward whatever makes you happy. Instead of putting your attention towards what exam is next or what paper is coming up, sit down and cherish every minute you can.

With that said, have a safe spring break, and use it wisely. This is our time to do what we love, and we surely can’t take it for granted.
