Penn State Baseball’s Kyle Hannon Named Big Ten Player Of The Week
Penn State baseball infielder Kyle Hannon was officially named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Hannon’s win comes after an individually impressive weekend at No. 5 Virginia. In fact, Penn State has now produced back-to-back Players of the Week for the first time since 2016. Last week, catcher Matt Wood won the award.
Although his team got swept across a three-game series, Hannon went 7-for-8 at the plate against the Cavaliers, averaging at about .875. Hannon was also 11 of 12 in plate appearances, which included one walk and two hit-by-pitches. Along with one RBI, two runs, and a stolen base, Hannon also averaged a 1.250 slugging percentage and a .909 on-base percentage.
So far this season, Hannon leads the team with 13 hits and a .382 average.
Next up, Penn State will head to Cary, North Carolina, to host UMass for three games from March 11 to 13.
