‘Hairspray’ To Play At Eisenhower Auditorium April 14
The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State will bring the Broadway tour of “Hairspray” to Eisenhower Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14.
“Hairspray” is one of the most successful musical comedies of all time, with its original run garnering eight Tony Awards, including “Best Musical,” “Best Original Score,” and three acting honors. The show features the story of 16-year-old Tracy Turnblad in 1960s Baltimore as she rises to dance stardom on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation.
Over roughly two and a half hours, the show grapples with themes of freedom of expression, racism, acceptance, and individualism.
This is not the first time “Hairspray” has played on Penn State’s campus. In 2007, the Broadway tour made its Penn State debut with a five-performance stop at Eisenhower Auditorium.
Tickets for Hairspray are currently available for purchase online or over the phone at (814) 863-0255. As the performance is not a part of the Student Fee Board’s recent discounted ticket offer, prices begin at $59 for adults, $41 for students, and $42 for children under 18.
