The ‘Best Penn State Place’ Bracket: The Elite Eight

You voted, and the second round of Onward State’s official “Best Penn State Place” bracket is already over. Following a few upsets, we’re moving on to even more carnage as eight contenders now face off for spots in the semifinals.

Eight of Penn State’s favorite places — dorms, dining halls, campus landmarks, and more — still remain in our bracket. Each will compete head to head until you, our readers, definitively prove which Penn State location ranks supreme.

Voting is open until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 27. It’s up to you to decide which Penn State places move on to the Final Four of our annual bracket.

Scroll below for a brief breakdown of the remaining matchups.

Classrooms

The Thomas Building, our bracket’s top seed, unsurprisingly topped Sparks by garnering 74.7% of the vote. Willard, meanwhile, stunned Forum and moved on with a decisive 64.1% win over one of Penn State’s most infamous lecture halls.

Athletics & Recreation

In this region, both of the higher seeds lived to see another day in our bracket. Beaver Stadium walloped Rec Hall with an 85.6% win, while the Berkey Creamery iced out Pegula Ice Arena, a fellow frozen friend, with a 65.1% victory. Now, fans at home will need to decide between a Penn Stater’s two favorite things: Creamery ice cream and football.

Dorms & Commons

Sorry, breakfast buffet lovers. The HUB took down Pollock Commons with relative ease after pulling in 88.3% of this week’s votes. Down on south campus, Redifer Commons edged out renovated dorms with a close 55.6% win. All of this sets up a highly anticipated showdown between two of Penn State students’ favorite places to spend time on campus.

Campus Classics

Don’t kid yourself. You never thought Old Main would lose, and you’re a fool if you picked against it. This week, Penn State’s beloved landmark crushed Eisenhower Auditorium with a 92.9% win. Just up Pattee Mall, Penn State’s Pattee and Paterno libraries combined to top Hintz Family Alumni Center with a 75.1% victory.

So, what are you waiting for? Cast your votes today to send your favorite Penn State places to the Final Four of our bracket. Voting will close at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 27.
