Douglas Albert Gallery To Move To New College Ave. Location

After four decades in Pat Daugherty Walkway, Douglas Albert Gallery has seemingly found a new home in downtown State College.

The art gallery will soon open up shop in the former location of People’s Nation at 126 E. College Ave. in early May, according to signs posted on the window of the former clothing store.

“The party begins in early May,” the sign reads. “Douglas Albert’s Gallery new home!”

A second sign reads, “Bigger… Bolder… Artier… Douglas Albert Gallery!!!!!”

A third sign mentions the gallery is looking for a picture framer.

According to owner Douglas Albert, the move comes after the owners of the gallery’s original location declined to renew its lease. Albert was initially supposed to move out of the location in February but received a lease through April and was required to be out by April 30.

Albert opened his gallery in 1981 about a decade after opening his first business, Uncle Eli’s Artist Marketplace, which still stands at 129 E. Beaver Ave.
