Penn State’s Capital Day Returns With Hybrid Format March 30

One of the university’s largest advocacy events, Penn State Capital Day, is making its in-person return this year via a hybrid format. The in-person portion of Capital Day on March 30 in Harrisburg will be limited to a smaller number of attendees, but the virtual component is open to all.

Capital Day serves as an opportunity for the commonwealth to contact elected officials, share how Penn State has impacted people’s lives, and talk to Pennsylvania’s legislators. Since its inception in 2001, Capital Day has secured benefits for university program funding as well as tuition breaks for Pennsylvania residents.

This year, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf has proposed a 5% increase to Penn State’s funding, and Capital Day is an opportunity for community members to share with legislators how the increase will impact them.

The in-person portion of this year’s Capital Day is offered to a limited number of attendees who are picked by student advocacy organizations, including UPUA. Although there are limited in-person opportunities, anyone with a Pennsylvania address can participate virtually by visiting the email campaign launched on the Advocate Penn State website on March 30.
