The ‘Best Penn State Place’ Bracket: The Championship

It’s all come down to this, folks.

What began with 32 of Penn State’s most beloved buildings and places has boiled down to just two — ironically, both No. 1 seeds. Our bracket’s championship will be a heavyweight battle between the homes of Penn State football and the university at large. The winner, of course, will scientifically and officially become the best Penn State “place” known to Dear Old State.

Beaver Stadium punched its ticket to the championship after defeating the Willard Building, which had bullied its way to the Final Four as an unsuspecting No. 6 seed. Previously, Penn State football’s beloved stadium earned victories over the No. 3-seeded Berkey Creamery, No. 5-seeded Rec Hall, and the No. 8-seeded White Building. Although the competition was stiff, we can’t exactly say we’re surprised to see Beaver Stadium make it to the championship.

On the other side of the bracket, Old Main is ready for a showdown. Penn State’s beloved landmark made it to the title match after narrowly defeating the top-seeded HUB and gaining 53.1% of the vote. Old Main earned wins over the No. 8-seeded Carnegie Building, No. 4-seeded Eisenhower Auditorium, and the jointly No. 3-seeded Pattee and Paterno libraries to get this far.

Now, it’s up to Onward State’s readers to decide which Penn State place ranks supreme. Will Penn Staters side with the greatest atmosphere in sports, or will they choose to lend their allegiance to the landmark that signifies Penn State like no other? Only time will tell.

Voting for our bracket’s championship match will remain open through 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. Choose wisely!
