Micah Parsons To Receive Key To Harrisburg…Again

Don’t lose your keys, folks!

For the second time over the past year, former Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons will receive Harrisburg’s “Key to the City” in honor of the hometown hero’s instant success with the Dallas Cowboys in the NFL.

According to the city of Harrisburg’s Twitter page, Mayor Wanda Williams insisted on giving Parsons a second honor after claiming he lost the first key gifted by the city last April. The ceremony, which will feature an appearance from Parsons, will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, at the MLK City Government Center in Harrisburg.

Fortunately for the recent NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Williams didn’t seem too upset about his alleged loss of the original key. In fact, the mayor plans on repping the Harrisburg native’s No. 11 jersey during the ceremony, which will feature the key’s positioning on a larger plaque to avoid any concerns about future misplacement.

However, the story about the whereabouts of the initial key could be fabricated, according to Parsons. After the ceremony began to gain traction on social media, Parsons claimed that he never lost the key in the first case but failed to give any inclination regarding its current state of possession.

Throughout his first season with the Cowboys, Parsons proved that his skill set is better versed for taking down ball carriers as opposed to keeping track of his long, ever-growing assortment of trophies. After getting drafted 12th overall by Mike McCarthy’s squad, the versatile defender compiled 84 tackles, including 13 sacks, en route to becoming the first-ever unanimous Defensive Rookie of the Year selection.

Additionally, Parsons’ services warranted a First-Team All-Pro selection and a spot in the Pro Bowl after his production exploded as an edge rusher for the Cowboys. After enduring an early playoff exit during the NFC Wild Card round in January, Parsons will aim to transform his individual success into heightened team progress throughout his second campaign with the franchise.
