Campus & Sustainable Communities Collaborative Expo Set For April 27

Penn State’s biannual Campus and Sustainable Communities Collaborative Expo returns this week at 3 Dots Downtown. The event, open to the public, will begin at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27.

This celebration for sustainability is co-sponsored by the State College borough and the Sustainability Institute at Penn State. Wednesday’s expo will highlight a wide variety of projects that seek to create real change in our area, including stormwater mitigation, solar adaptations, and more. Registration for the event is not required, and refreshments will be provided.

Highlighted projects are all worked on by Penn State students. Each initiative is also backed by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Every semester, the Sustainable Communities Collaborative teams up with different classes at Penn State to work with partners across the state on different research projects. These projects help to promote sustainability throughout the university, its surrounding community, and beyond.

“As they prepare to present how they used research to solve a community communications problem, the students are challenged to convey a semester’s worth of work in a concise and memorable way,” assistant teaching professor Tara Wycoff said in a release.

The 2022 Expo will also feature three respected speakers: Paul Shrivastava, Penn State’s chief sustainability officer; John Dawes, the executive director of the Foundation of Pennsylvania Watersheds; and Tom Fountaine, State College’s borough manager.

More information on the expo is available online.
