Former Penn State Wide Receiver Daniel George Transfers To Akron
Former Penn State football wideout Daniel George announced Wednesday night that he’s transferring to Akron.
George, who entered the portal back in January as a graduate transfer, is the second former Penn State football player to transfer to Akron this week. Offensive tackle Anthony Whigan announced Monday that he’s joining the Zips, who are helmed by former Nittany Lions offensive coordinator Joe Moorhead.
George came to Penn State back in 2018 as a four-star recruit from Oxon Hill, Maryland. Throughout his four years with the Nittany Lions, he started only six games and totaled just 18 catches for 285 yards. However, during his true freshman season, he did connect with Sean Clifford for a program-record 95-yard touchdown against Kent State.
George’s most productive season came in 2019 when he made four starts and posted nine catches for 100 yards.
Even before George entered the portal, he wasn’t listed on Penn State football’s updated roster. The team is expected to be led by Parker Washington, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, and Western Kentucky transfer Mitchell Tinsley at wide receiver this season.
