Jahan Dotson Drafted No. 16 Overall By Washington Commanders

Jahan Dotson is an NFL wide receiver, folks.

The Washington Commanders selected Dotson in the first round with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. This marks the second consecutive year a team has picked a Nittany Lion in the first round, as both Micah Parsons and Odafe Oweh heard their names called on the draft’s first night last year.

Dotson is the first Nittany Lion wideout to hear his name called in the first round since Bryant Johnson in 2003.

Dotson established himself as one of the best wideouts in program history during his time in Happy Valley. He posted 183 catches for 2,757 yards and 25 touchdowns during his four-year Penn State career that saw him earn several accolades, including first-team All-Big Ten honors following the 2021 season.

The Nazareth, Pennsylvania native sits toward the top of the all-time program record books in multiple categories. He ranks No. 4 in all-time receiving yards, No. 2 in receiving touchdowns, No. 2 in catches, and he holds the single-game receiving yards record with the 242 yards he posted this past season against Maryland.

Dotson’s dominance was on full display for much of his Penn State career. His slick route-running and elite hands caused all sorts of issues for opposing defenses.

Now, Dotson will join forces with fellow Nittany Lions Troy Apke and Shaka Toney and try to make an early impact in the Commanders’ offense with new quarterback Carson Wentz in tow.
