Former Penn State Wideout Irvin Charles Signs With New York Jets
Former Penn State football wide receiver Irvin Charles is signing with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent.
Charles spent three years with the Nittany Lions before being dismissed from the team and later transferring to IUP.

He caught just three passes during his Penn State career, though, one was quite significant. Charles’ first career grab was an 80-yard touchdown against Minnesota during the 2016 season that helped flip momentum in what was eventually a Nittany Lions victory.
Despite transferring to IUP in 2019, he didn’t take the field for the first time until 2021 due to academic ineligibility and the COVID-19 pandemic. In his lone season on the field for IUP, Charles posted 39 catches for 792 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Charles is the second former Penn State football player to sign as an undrafted free agent Saturday. Derrick Tangelo, who played one season for the Nittany Lions after coming over as a transfer from Duke, is heading to Atlanta to play for the Falcons, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
