Last season, the Canadian defensive end was selected as the No. 4 overall pick in the Canadian Football League Draft by the British Columbia Lions. Instead of heading north, the rangy pass rusher elected to remain at NC State to utilize his last year of collegiate eligibility. In total, Joseph spent four years at Penn State and two with the Wolfpack in Raleigh before signing with the Bills.

Initially, Joseph arrived in Happy Valley as a part of the Nittany Lions’ coveted 2016 recruiting class alongside the likes of Miles Sanders, Shaka Toney, and Blake Gillikin. The Ontario, Canada native redshirted during Penn State’s Big Ten Championship-winning campaign as a true freshman but appeared in eight games as a redshirt freshman in 2017.

During his third season within James Franklin’s program, Joseph saw action in 13 matchups and compiled 12 total tackles. Joseph was primed for a starting or second-string role in 2019 behind Yetur Gross-Matos and Odafe Oweh, but lingering injuries sidelined the emerging edge rusher for all but the first two contests of the campaign against Idaho and Buffalo, respectively.

After accumulating just seven tackles in two showings throughout 2019, Joseph announced his intentions to enter the transfer portal in January 2020. A month later, the Canadian selected NC State, where he served as an immediate contributor to Dave Doeren’s defense.

Over the last two seasons, Joseph tallied 83 tackles, including 19 hits for a loss, and 11.5 sacks. Despite boasting an impressive on-field output, Joseph underwhelmed at NC State’s Pro Day, where he ran a 5.08-second 40-yard dash and recorded a 29-inch vertical leap.

Joseph’s option to play for the British Columbia Lions still stood after going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft, but ultimately, the former four-star product is deciding to test the waters in the NFL as an undrafted free agent in Buffalo.
