Poke Fresh Opens On East Calder Way

Poke Fresh, a new Hawaiian poke bowl place downtown, is now open for business.

Located at 328 E. Calder Way, the restaurant sits in the former location of California Tanning Express. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

According to an Instagram post, the restaurant’s grand opening was at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 29. As part of its grand opening debut, Poke Fresh is giving away a free bubble tea with the purchase of a poke bowl until Wednesday, June 15.

Poke is a common dish in Hawaiian cuisines. Traditionally, it features raw, diced fish tossed with rice, vegetables, and sauce and is commonly customized with other fresh ingredients. In addition to poke bowls, Poke Fresh will sell burritos and bubble teas.

You can purchase signature bowls or create your own. The “salmon fresh” signature bowl is packed with salmon, spicy salmon, black bean, edamame, sweet corn, chickpeas, cucumber, red cabbage, poke special sauce, masago, and radish sprouts. Most signature bowls are sold for around $12.

When customizing your poke, you first choose between a rice burrito, a rice bowl, or a poke salad. Then you choose your protein. Depending on how many you select, your price will range from $10 to $14. Finally, you select your mix-ins, sauces, toppings, and crunches.

Poke Fresh’s drink menu includes bubble milk tea, fruit green tea, fresh tea, fresh fruit tea, smoothies, milkshakes, and sparkling mojitos. The teas are sold for about $5 each.

The menu also includes an ice cream waffle for around $8 each, which features various waffle and ice cream flavors. Toppings include everything from lychee jelly to chocolate Pocky.

Folks can order food and teas by scanning a QR code, placing an order online, or by ordering in-store.

Poke Fresh joins Antifragile Brewing Company, a beer and kombucha brewery that opened in the same shopping center on E. Calder Way last month.
