Penn State’s Annual Lift For Life Scheduled For June 30

Penn State’s annual Lift for Life, which is hosted by Uplifting Athletes, is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, at the Lasch Practice Fields, Penn State football announced Tuesday.

In its 19th year, Lift for Life will be highlighted by Penn State football’s offense challenging the defensive squad in several events in hopes of raising money and awareness toward rare diseases.

The annual event typically occurs during Arts Fest, however, this year it’s scheduled for two weeks prior. This is only the fourth year that Lift for Life and Arts Fest have taken place on different weekends throughout Lift for Life’s 19 years of operation at Penn State.

Roughly 80 members of the Penn State football team are anticipated to compete in Lift for Life. The event is free, but a donation of $10 for adults and $5 for kids is encouraged to support Uplifting Athletes’ mission to help the rare disease community.

Uplifting Athletes was established in 2007 by Penn State football alum Scott Shirley after his father was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Uplifting Athletes’ goal is to connect Division I football programs with folks fighting rare diseases in order to assist with finances, as well as provide encouragement through their battles. Penn State’s chapter of Uplifting Athletes has raised more than $1.4 million since its inception. Long snapper Chris Stoll will serve as president of Penn State’s chapter this year.
