Four-Star Safety King Mack Commits To Penn State Football

After hosting a bevy of official visits and developmental camps, the Nittany Lions have secured another commitment.

Four-star safety King Mack announced his verbal commitment to Penn State’s Class of 2023 Thursday afternoon. He is the 16th recruit to commit to James Franklin’s program and the 10th with a four-star rating.

Following an official visit on June 17, Mack chose Penn State over Michigan State, Arkansas, and Notre Dame, among others.

Historically, head coach James Franklin has demonstrated a strong connection to the Florida recruiting scene, and Mack’s commitment only instantiates that. Mack, a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is ranked as the No. 25 player in the talent-ridden state and the No. 7 overall safety in class, according to 247Sports.

Mack is the third player from Florida to join Penn State’s Class of 2023. He is also the second player from St. Thomas Aquinas High School, as teammate Conrad Hussey committed to Penn State back in April. Since his own commitment, Hussey has even reportedly been recruiting Mack.

Together, the 5’11”, 180-pound Mack and fellow safety Hussey were instrumental members of their high school’s 14-1 season in their junior year. The pair led the team with four interceptions apiece. For a closer look, check out Mack’s Hudl highlight tape.

The Nittany Lions’ Class of 2023 now ranks No. 5 in the country and No. 2 in the Big Ten, trailing only the Ohio State Buckeyes, who hold the nation’s top recruiting class.
