Make that three commitments on the week for James Franklin’s squad.

Four-star linebacker Ta’Mere Robinson announced his verbal commitment to Penn State football’s Class of 2023 Friday evening. Robinson is the second linebacker to commit to the program in as many days, following Tony Rojas’ July 14 announcement.

Robinson attended the June 17 official visit to State College which led to multiple other commitments. He chose Penn State over Miami, Virginia Tech, and Pittsburgh, among others.

Signs pointed to the visit’s success when Robinson set his announcement date shortly after. Also in the visit’s wake, new teammate Tony Rojas shared a photo of the pair and defensive coordinator Manny Diaz with the caption: “Future of LBU???”

Robinson’s links to Penn State are years in the making after the team first extended an offer way back in April 2020. He even took his first documented unofficial visit in October 2019, as a high school freshman.

The 6’4″, 225-pound Robinson is ranked as the No. 3 prospect in Pennsylvania and the nation’s 13th best player at his position, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. The Nittany Lions now hold commitments from three of Pennsylvania’s top five recruits, including J’Ven Williams and Jameial Lyons at No. 1 and No. 5 respectively.

At Brashear High School in Pittsburgh, Robinson played a litany of positions. Though he lists himself as a linebacker and defensive lineman, Robinson also got his fair share of offensive experience, even scoring a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown. In October, Robinson’s junior season ended due to surgery on his ACL and MCL. In the time since, Robinson has been documenting his rehabilitation journey online – even sharing a well-wishing video from Penn State’s recruiting staff from ahead of his procedure.

Robinson is the 19th player to verbally commit to Penn State’s Class of 2023. The class now ranks No. 3 in the country after leapfrogging Clemson and Texas. In the Big Ten, Penn State still trails Ohio State, which currently holds the nation’s No. 2 recruiting class.
