Penn State Encouraging COVID-19 Awareness As Fall Semester Begins

As students return to campus for the new school year, Penn State is continuing to monitor COVID-19 on its campuses. The university sent out a press release highlighting its efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus on campus.

Penn State will continue to offer testing services at its University Park campus. Students were also encouraged to take at-home rapid tests before arriving on campus. Those who experience symptoms of COVID-19 have been instructed to avoid going to class or other activities and to schedule testing as soon as possible.

Students who have been exposed to COVID-19 are not required to isolate but should wear a mask and take a test five days after exposure. Those who test positive must isolate, though Penn State will only provide space for students to do so if they live on campus. Off-campus students must isolate in a space where they can avoid contact with others.

Penn State is continuing to encourage vaccination for all students and will offer appointments through UHS at University Park. Students at Commonwealth Campuses are encouraged to book appointments at local locations around their respective campuses.

Masking is currently not required at any Penn State campus, but students in areas with high levels of COVID-19 transmission are encouraged to mask up. Students who wish to mask can do so, and masking is required at any facilities providing health care and as required by law.
