Penn State Students Get First Dibs on New, More Serious, Dating App for College Students

Dating… Yeah, we get it; it’s a mess! Every year, we head back to school and for many of us, we realize that we are still single. It’s not something we choose to be. But it just seems to be the case year after year.

To combat this, we pull out our phones and download one of those dating apps. And for some people, one isn’t enough; two and even three others are downloaded.

After some time, it starts to become clear that what you thought would help you find a life-long partner is really just another platform that is just here to make money off of you. The profiles you see are nearly empty and the matches you make seem to really go nowhere.

You begin to realize that many students you come across are just on the platform to hook up, promote their social media, or something else that clearly isn’t about finding the one.

But instead of uninstalling the app, you keep it. You perhaps pause your account or just turn off notifications. And even if you do uninstall it, you come right back in a few weeks. And then we go through the process again next year.

We haven’t even covered the part where people are randomly swiping on you (and vice versa) without much thought. And let’s not forget how all of that just starts to feel like a game. So much for trying to be serious, right?

How exactly do we fix this mess? Fixing it is not what we should focus on. As mentioned earlier, for those that want to hook up and promote themselves and get attention, the current dating scene is just fine. There is nothing more to do here.

However, for those that are serious about finding that special someone, we have invented Shlove. It is the new long-term dating app for college students. Shlove priorities real meaningful relationships and not hook-up culture. With that being said, no more empty profiles, random swiping, and an endless amount of random matches, most of whom you are not even interested in or even talk to.

Shlove was designed for college students who are tired of the current dating scene (if that’s what you even want to call it) on their college campuses. It was designed by 5 college students, 4 of which are current Penn State students and one who was a former Penn State student.

Despite the sad truth about dating apps, it’s not as bad as you might think. For those who are looking to hook up and promote themselves, or, simply get attention, the current dating apps might be the place to go. And for the companies, well they’ll fine with all the money that you give them.

Shlove is now available to Penn State students
