Former Penn State tight end Jesse James has reportedly signed a one-year deal with the Cleveland Browns to join the team’s 53-man roster just before the start of the regular season, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The deal’s value has yet to be disclosed.

The 28-year-old tight end is coming off a rough 2021 campaign in which he recorded only 62 yards and one touchdown in 14 games with the Chicago Bears.

James will join a crowded tight end’s room with David Njoku and Harrison Bryant, as he’ll hope to provide some veteran leadership to Cleveland.

The Glassport, Pennsylvania native will be joining his fourth NFL team in eight seasons as he has struggled to stay consistent throughout his professional career. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers before signing with the Detroit Lions and eventually the Chicago Bears.
