Marathon Read To Celebrate 12-Hour Event In Honor Of ‘The Pursuit Of Sustainability’

The Penn State College of Liberal Arts and the Penn State English department’s 10th annual 12-hour Marathon Read will return to Pattee Mall on Thursday, September 15.

Marathon Read will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. This year’s theme is “The Pursuit of Sustainability” and will feature “Silent Spring” by Rachael Carson, as well as texts from Wendell Berry, Ross Gay, Dina Gilio-Whitaker, and more.

According to Marathon Read’s website, the featured texts will explore the challenges that climate change presents and the rewards that can come from personal pursuits of sustainability.

The event is free and open to the public. Food will also be provided for participants throughout the day.

If you want to sign up for a five-minute reading spot, you can do so online. If you are interested in volunteering at the event, email Joe Bueter at jbueter@psu.edu.
