[Photo Story] State College Community Comes Together During Annual LION Bash

On Thursday evening, State College’s annual LION (Living In One Neighborhood) Bash took place on South Allen Street.

The block party allows short-term and long-term residents to see what resources are available in their community, all while having fun, of course.

This year’s event featured engagement stations, free flowers, backyard games, and plenty of delicious food. People even picked up some new skills, like CPR.

The sun was shining, and there was a cool breeze in the air. It made for the perfect evening to get outside in the fresh air.

Folks particularly enjoyed playing pickleball, giant Connect Four, and cornhole.

Plenty of local pups attended the event, too.

Many individuals went home with a beautiful fresh flower bouquet from one of the engagement stations.

Plenty of Penn State pride was visible last night just days before Penn State football takes on the Ohio Bobcats in Beaver Stadium. The Nittany Lion is pumped for Saturday’s gameday!

Alpha Fire Company provided a demonstration on how to use a fire extinguisher. You could say it was ~lit.~

Tables of organizations lined the 100, 200, and 300 blocks of Allen Street, including the Nittany Highlands Pipe Band, Yoga Lab, Lion Ambassadors, and the PanAPIDA Circle.

CHAAR Martial Arts Center was in attendance and offered one free week of classes for those who could break a board. One kid with a blue belt did just that!

A few courageous folks even got pied in the face.

Hundreds of Penn State students and State College residents attended Thursday’s block party between 5 and 8 p.m.

There were free drinks, cupcakes, snow cones, and candy. Several local food trucks, including Brazilian Munchies and Savory Station, were a convenient dinner option.

Local artist Chip Mock drew dozens of free caricatures for those who dared…

As the sun went down, community members could see a gorgeous blue and yellow sunset in the background of Allen Street. LION Bash 2022 was quite the success.
