The dynasty just refuses to quit.

Class of 2023 standout AJ Fricchione announced his verbal commitment to Penn State’s wrestling program via Twitter. Fricchione is the first recruit secured by Cael Sanderson since Tyler Kasak, who committed in May.

“First off I would like to thank God for putting me in the position that I am in today,” Fricchione wrote.

“I want to thank my Dad for always taking me to wrestling tournaments and pushing me to be the best wrestler I could ever be,” Fricchione continued. “I also want to thank my Mom for giving me every opportunity to be great at the sport and a great kid off the mat.”

The New Jersey native was recently a state finalist at 195 pounds and is the No. 17 ranked prospect at 182 pounds, according to FloWrestling. He took an official visit to Penn State in November 2021.

From his high school career, Fricchione has experience at multiple different weight classes. In addition to his wrestling background, Fricchione also played football for St. Joseph Regional High School.

Fricchione joins a Penn State squad who is coming off a team national championship, along with five individual national championships in the 2022 season.
