Centre Region Down Syndrome Society’s Buddy Walk To Return October 8

After two years of having a virtual Buddy Walk, the Centre Region Down Syndrome Society (CRDSS) is thrilled to bring the event back to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Saturday, October 8.

The event, put on annually in October to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month, will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

CRDSS states that this is their biggest event of the year, bringing in more than 100 volunteers and over 600 attendees. Throughout the day, guests will be able to participate in face painting, games, crafts, a benefit auction, and more.

“Best of all will be the smiles, hugs and our community sharing in our common purpose of helping those with Down syndrome live life to the fullest,” board officer Becky Brigman said.

This will be Centre Region Down Syndrome Society’s 16th year putting on the Buddy Walk since the organization’s formation in 2003, and it expects a record turnout in October.

CRDSS is currently accepting registrations, donations, and sponsorships via its website. The organization relies on donations from the Buddy Walk to fund much of its year-round work, which includes educational workshops and support for families who have recently had a loved one diagnosed with Down Syndrome.
