Ritenour Building’s Teaparker Teahouse Back Open To Public

After a long time remiss, Penn State’s hidden gem, Teaparker Teahouse (青白茶館), has opened once again as a spot for students to sit back, relax, and of course, drink some tea.

Stationed in the basement of Penn State’s Ritenour Building, the student-run Tea Club offers students a traditional tea experience in the comfort of University Park. Students can try a menu of high-quality teas, ranging from white, black, green, and any tea in between for only a small fee. It’s also a place to try specialized loose-leaf teas, unlike your typical grocery store tea bag.

The Teaparker Tea House is open for dine-in tea services Wednesday through Friday. The tea spot is cash-only, and students can expect a price between $3 to $7, depending on the chosen tea.

Since its founding in 2009, the Tea Club has worked hard to honor a traditional Asian tea-drinking experience. From the brewing and drinking of tea to the glass tea cups it’s served in, the club carefully puts together a real-world experience.

In 2019, the club even traveled to Taiwan for a truly immersive experience. Over a span of 10 days, students learned about Chinese, Japanese, and Korean tea ceremonies while visiting the actual tea farms.

Whether you’re in between classes or simply in the mood to try something new, the Teahouse is excited to greet students and fulfill all of their tea-drinking quests.
