Tussey Mountain’s Oktoberfest To Return September 23

Oktoberfest is set to return to Tussey Mountain on Friday, September 23. The celebration begins at 5:30 p.m. with a night full of music, food, and, of course, lots of beer.

Smitty’s Polka Band will be on-site to perform authentic Biergarten music sung in both German and English. The Bavarian Stompers, a local act, will also perform. Food vendors include Carl’s Crazy Corn, Doan’s Bones, and Rosie’s Pierogies.

Attendees will have the chance to compete in Steinholding, which is a competition that involves holding a beer stein with the proper form for as long as possible. Winners will earn gift cards of up to $100, and first-place finishers in the men’s and women’s brackets will qualify for the United States Steinholding Association State Finals. Registration is free and will be open between 5:30 and 7 p.m.

Oktoberfest is a German beer holiday traditionally held annually anywhere from late September to early October. The festival began in 1810 during the crown prince of Bavaria’s wedding.

Tickets to the festival are $10 but will increase to $15 on the day of the event. Visit Tussey Mountain’s website to register or learn more about the festival.
