Penn State Field Hockey Rakes In Nine Individual Big Ten Awards

The Nittany Lions just can’t be stopped.

After taking home a share of the Big Ten regular-season title, No. 3 Penn State field hockey brought in nine end-of-season conference awards on Wednesday.

Forward Sophia Gladieux and head coach Charlene Morett-Curtiss received the most notable awards on the team, earning nods for Big Ten Player of the Year and Big Ten Coach of the Year, respectively.

Gladieux was also awarded Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten honors. Joining her on the first team were midfielder Mackenzie Allessie, forward Elena Vos, and goaltender Brie Barraco.

Anna Simon, who finished the regular season with the team’s third-most goals, was named a second-team All-Big Ten recipient. Rounding out the recognitions, midfielder Meghan Reese was also awarded the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.

After sharing the Big Ten regular-season title with Maryland, the team enters the conference tournament with a first-round bye. The Nittany Lions face their first opponent at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 4, in Columbus. The game will air on the Big Ten Network.
