Penn State Defensive End Nick Tarburton Declares For 2023 NFL Draft

Penn State defensive end Nick Tarburton declared for the 2023 NFL Draft on Saturday evening, he announced via Instagram.

However, he will participate in the 2023 Rose Bowl in January.

Tarburton is a redshirt senior who could have claimed an extra year of eligibility due to the shortened 2020 season.

At Penn State, Tarburton took his time getting acclimated to playing college football. He played in just two games during his true freshman season in 2018 and claimed his redshirt. He did not appear in any games in 2019, spending time on the developmental squad.

After a quiet 2020 season when he appeared in seven games, Tarburton finally made his impact felt in 2021. He started in eight games and appeared in 13 for Penn State, tallying 30 tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery, and two pass breakups. He also earned the team’s Tim Shaw Thrive Award, which is awarded to a teammate that has overcome adversity and inspired teammates.

In his final season, Tarburton started in eight games, recording 12 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.

Tarburton is the third Nittany Lion to announce his early departure, after Parker Washington and Joey Porter Jr. declared for the NFL Draft in the past few weeks.
