Four-Star Safety Conrad Hussey Flips To Florida State

After a successful Wednesday that included 22 players officially becoming Nittany Lions, Penn State football has lost a verbal commitment in its Class of 2023.

Four-star safety Conrad Hussey, who had been committed to James Franklin’s program since April, has flipped to Florida State the day after the 2023 early signing day. Hussey announced the flip through an Instagram livestream.

Hussey becomes the only player who was verbally committed to the Nittany Lions’ 2023 class to not sign their letter of intent. Penn State’s Class of 2023 sits at 22 players and is ranked No. 13 nationally, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, following the early signing period.

The Florida safety is ranked as the 19th-best safety in the country and is the 47th-best player in his home state. With Hussey decommitting, Penn State’s 2023 class still boasts three safeties and two corners, though, it doesn’t seem like Franklin is satisfied.

The head coach mentioned during his early signing day press conference on Wednesday that “depending on how this whole thing plays out,” the team could be in the market for another defensive back or two. With Hussey now no longer in the cards for the Nittany Lions, the team could very well try to add more depth at the backend of the defense this recruiting cycle.
