Penn State Hoops’ Jalen Pickett Named Big Ten Player Of The Week

Jalen Pickett is on a roll, folks.

The Penn State men’s basketball guard was named the Big Ten Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon following the Nittany Lions’ game against Quinnipiac.

Pickett recorded 21 points and 12 rebounds against the Bobcats and was just one assist shy of a triple-double, which would have been his second of the season. It was his fourth game of the season with at least 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Pickett has had a standout season in his fifth year of NCAA basketball. He’s leading the country in the assist-to-turnover ratio (4.65) and is third in the nation in assists per game (7.8). He’s also the only player in the Big Ten that is top 10 in the conference in all of points, rebounds, and assists.

The award is the first Big Ten Player of the Week award in Pickett’s career and the first time a Penn State player has won the award since Lamar Stevens claimed it in February 2020.

Pickett and Penn State will return to action at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, when they take on Delaware State at the Bryce Jordan Center.
